ZANESVILLE, Ohio - you see smoke coming from a building on Forest Ave. in Zanesville this week don't be alarmed.

Genesis Hospital donated the structure that used to be the Good Samaritan Hospital to the Zanesville Fire Department for training purposes. Assistant Fire Chief, Doug Hobson said this will allow the department the opportunity to practice some unique training.

 Eight local dance groups performed at the Colony Square Mall to promote movement for better health.

The 10th Annual Genesis Spirit of Women Day of Dance event took place Saturday morning where nearly one thousand people in attendance received free health screenings and wellness information.

Holly Voltz said this is a special and unique program, and nearly 300 hospitals across the nation took part in this very same event.

Wednesday, Genesis Hospital held its 2015 Employee Service Award Ceremony.

Good news at Genesis Hospital came just in time with the beautiful weather Tuesday.

Emergency vehicles will soon have a more direct route to Genesis Hospital.

The Zanesville Public Service Committee met Wednesday to discuss a variety of issues, including the extension of Bethesda Drive for emergency vehicle access. As traffic congestion near the hospital can be problematic, City Engineer, Chip Saunders said this new road is necessary.

Pediatric patients at Genesis Hospital received a special gift Wednesday.

Power at Genesis Hospital was momentarily interrupted Tuesday afternoon. 

According to a statement from Marketing/Media Relations Manager, Holly Voltz, power went down around 1:00 p.m. and generators at the hospital came on immediately.

Anitera Sharrer, 5, of Zanesville was struck by an oncoming Ford 150 shortly after 5:00 p.m. Sunday. 

Her father, Aaron Sharrer said Anitera was crossing Luck Avenue just south of Dryden Road. Sharrer also said, it appeared that the driver of the truck strongly applied the brakes. Zanesville Patrol Officer, Vickers said there was no indication the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Genesis Healthcare System move is complete. 

Ninety-one patients were transported from the Good Samaritan campus to the new facility. Ambulances arrived at the new Genesis Hospital in four minute rotations. The Genesis Community EMT, and Genesis Healthcare staff came together to coordinate a smooth transition for patients.

The new Genesis facility was open to the public for self-guided tours today.

The 220 million dollar project is nearing completion. COO Alan Burns said it's a treat to finally see the community's reaction to a plan so many years in the making.
