It's a surgery that can cause many women pain, both emotionally and physically. But thanks to a new device, the pain and recovery time for a hysterectomy is cut in half.

A laproscopic hysterectomy is now being replaced by the Da Vinci surgical system at Genesis Health Care Systems in Zanesville.

The Muskingum County Commissioners passed a resolution Thursday that will give Muskingum County's largest employer tax exempt obligations.

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating a case of embezzlement at Genesis Health Care System. Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says the incident was reported on December 7th and involves a former Genesis employee taking a substantial amount of money from Genesis and its volunteer agency known as the Charity Circle. Genesis Bethesda Hospital kicked off the holidays Friday with the offical lighting of the "Tree of Love."

The large fir tree is lit with hundreds of bulbs given in honor or memory of loved ones for a $5 donation. The names of those honored are also displayed in the main lobbies of the hospitals.

The Genesis Healthcare Foundation is announcing the recipient of the 2009 Genesis Community Service Award.

Carol Kohler was recognized tonight in front of family, friends, and colleagues.

Kohler is a graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She served the community as a nurse at the Good Samaritan Medical Center and Genesis before finally retiring back in 2001 as the Director of Surgical Services at Genesis.
