Fifth grade students in three different state become part of a project to keep them working hard even when it gets tough.

Going on when the going gets tough is the message sent to students in the Zanesville City School System.

Ron Derry leads the G.O.O.D. program for fifth graders. G.O.O.D. stands for going on or defeated. Derry is a former educator who went blind eighteen years ago. He's a living example of how to keep going.

A program taking place at Zanesville City Schools isn't recognizing the best athlete or even the best student. It seeks to honor those that continue to work hard even when the road isn't easy.

Fifth graders in Zanesville City Schools took a break from class Thursday morning to listen to a motivational speaker.

The G.O.O.D. program, which stands for Going On Or Defeated, is sponsored by the local Lion's Club.
