Tuesday is Groundhog Day and people in Punksutawney, Pennsylvania and Ohio are celebrating the annual event. 

As the legend has it, if the groundhog sees his shadow, winter will last another six weeks, if not an early spring is expected. 

Punxsutawney Phil has already made his prediction and says spring will come early. However, Buckeye Chuck disagrees and says we'll see six more weeks of winter.

 Nearly 400 people came out to celebrate a major milestone.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation's celebrated its 31st  birthday Friday night along with a Groundhog Day Auction at the Ohio University Zanesville/ Zane State Campus Center. CEO Brian Wagner said this event is a great way to celebrate and raise money for the community.

A community member who is partly responsible for the new recreation center being built at Ohio University Zanesville is being honored for his work.

On February 2, Rob Joseph will receive the 2013 Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award at the Community Foundation's Groundhog Day Celebration. The award celebrates a person who is an entrepreneur, leader and philanthropist. Joseph was nominated by Bob Kessler.

Buckeye Chuck is indicating that an early spring is on the way. He was pulled from his hole this morning and faced cloudy skies along with scattered snow showers, and he failed to see his shadow.

Most area residents say that's great news.

"I'm so excited. I'm done with the snow and the cold, " says Zanesville resident Becky Newaman.

"Yeah, it's been really cold. Hopefully, it starts getting warmer here soon, " says Zanesville resident Alex Grenawalt....
