Making contact with 258 vehicles, saturation patrols conducted two OVI checkpoints in Guernsey County Friday. 

The two checkpoints, one on U.S. 22 and the other on S.R. 209, was conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Byesville Police Department and the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office. According to a press release from the State Highway Patrol, the average inspection time was 20 seconds.

**Update*** The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office says the escaped inmate has been captured.  Cobb was arrested Saturday night without incident in Cambridge. ***Update***

Bud Allen Cobb escaped from the Guernsey County Jail Saturday morning at 8:37 a.m. according to the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office.  He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a light gray shirt.  Cobb is described as a 6 foot, 190 pound white male with a medium build and multiple tattoos on his neck...

According to the Cambridge Police Department at around noon on Friday, February 7th, employees of the Deer Creek Motel reported the discovery of a dead motel guest.

Officers arrived and found a 44-year-old male dead on the floor of the motel room. The identity of the victim is not being released until relatives have been notified. He is believed to be a recent Cambridge resident, having moved here from North Carolina and had been staying at the motel since February 1st.

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation into a Thursday murder.

The sheriff said the body of 26-year-old Kayla Thompson, of Cambridge, was recovered at Dillon State Park after she was reported missing from her job as a pizza delivery driver, Thursday afternoon. Being held as a suspect is 32-year-old Adam Burris, also of Cambridge.

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible abduction.

Authorities say 26-year-old Kayla Thompson was last seen around 12 p.m Thursday after making a pizza delivery to a home in Cambridge.

A resident of that home,  32-year-old Adam Burris has a history of violent tendencies.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, deputies say they have found Kayla Thompson's vehicle and Burris was taken into custody. At that time, Thompson had not been located.

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted abduction near the city of Cambridge.

Authorities said that Tuesday around 3 p.m. they responded to the area of Claysville and Phillips Roads after a caller told officials her friends car had broken down and needed help. When the friend arrived she found the car and not the driver, and was afraid something had happened.

The Muskingum County and Guernsey County Sheriff's Office both retired one of their K-9's this year and on Wednesday, they each added a new German Shepherd to the department.

"We try and keep one on every shift," said Muskingum County Sheriff, Matt Lutz. "We've been doing that for the last several years and since we had one retired, it's time to get a new one."

Two people are charged in connection with what authorities say is the largest heroin bust in Guernsey County.

The Sheriff's Office reports that 32-year-old Jennifer Corathers and 24-year-old Marlei Matthew were arrested following a four month investigation that resulted in a  raid at a home in Cumberland.

Corathers was charged Friday with having weapons under disability and Matthew was charged with trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin....

One person is under arrest following a Wednesday night drug bust in Guernsey County. 

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office reports that its Special Response Team along with deputies and detectives executed a high risk search warrant at an eastside Cambridge Township residence. 

The warrant was obtained for the residence after multiple controlled drug purchases were completed.

One Guernsey County resident is in custody the other at large in a case involving the illegal assembly or manufacturing of drugs.

The Guernsey County Sheriff's Office said 41-year-old Samantha Miller, of Byesville, is currently in custody in the Guernsey County jail in connection to the meth lab bust.

45-year-old Bruce Miller also of Byesville is currently at large and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
