Steubenville and Athens both won regional titles on Friday night, but the similarities end there.

The Tri-Valley Scotties battle the Athens Bulldogs tonight at Sulsberger Memorial Stadium in Zanesville in the Division 3, Region 9 semifinals. The game is a rematch of last year's showdown in Logan that saw the Bulldogs escape with a 55-52 overtime victory.

Athens has scored 682 points in 11 games this season. Quarterback Joe Burrow has passed for 45 touchdowns while running back Trae Williams has rushed for 38 touchdowns.

Trimble and Caldwell won easily on Saturday night, setting up a matchup between the two unbeaten teams in Division 7, Region 25 next weekend.

Trimble (11-0) routed Symmes Valley (6-5), 55-8, at Glouster Memorial Stadium, while Caldwell (11-0) overcame a slow start to defeat Harvest Prep (8-3), 48-25, at Howard J. Devol Memorial Stadium.

The "Battle of the Panthers" is just two days away as 4-seeded Licking Valley is set to host 5-seeded Maysville at Randy Baughman Stadium. Unlike most playoff matchups, these two teams know a thing or two about one another.

The five-seeded Maysville Panthers (9-1) take on four-seeded Licking Valley (8-2) in the WHIZ-TV "Game of the Week." The game will be broadcast on WHIZ Saturday at 10 a.m.

For those wanting to hear the live action, Z92 will broadcast the game live on Friday night. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Seventeen unanswered points helped propel Licking Valley (3-1, 8-2) past Granville (3-1, 8-2) in Licking County League action and clinch a playoff spot for the Panthers.

The win also gave Valley a share of the LCL title.
