The Crooksville Ceramics gave Maysville a scare Thursday night at the Maysville Athletic Complex, but the Panthers dominated the second half and coasted to a 49-15 victory.
Couger Clarke returned an interception 102 yards to paydirt with seven seconds remaining in the half to give the Panthers a seven-point lead after 24 minutes of play. Maysville then scored 27 unanswered points in the final two quarters.
The Tri-Valley Scotties return 18 starters from a team that won the MVL for the third consecutive time in 2013, including three all-Ohio selections. Needless to say, Justin Buttermore and company have high aspirations in Dresden.

The West Muskingum Tornadoes fell behind, 10-0, to Bishop Rosecrans only to score 14 unanswered points en route to victory at Sulsberger Stadium. Seth Mirgon fired a 21-yard bullet to Tyler Gibson with 55 seconds remaining in the game for the win.
West opens the season at Philo next Friday while Rosecrans will battle Fairfield Christian next Saturday.
The New Lex Panthers ended last season on a high note by upsetting Sheridan. This season, new head coach Dave Rupe - who has experience coaching in the MVL - is assigned with steering the Panthers in the right direction. JT Raymond has the story.
