Meadowbrook volleyball downed John Glenn in four sets, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22, to capture its first district championship. The Lady Colts are set to battle West Holmes in the regional semifinal at Zanesville High School next Wednesday.
Philo volleyball took a 2-0 lead against Tri-Valley only to see that lead disappear into thin air as the Lady Dawgs rallied to force a fifth set. The Electrics showed up when it mattered most, though, taking the final set and the win.
John Glenn also won, so both Philo and the Lady Muskies are tied for the top spot in the MVL.

Maysville handed John Glenn its first MVL loss in volleyball by winning in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, 26-24. Aubrie Clarke was perfect on her serving and added 19 assists. Kori Sidwell pitched 12 digs, 9 kills and 1 ace. Mylie Swauger registered seven kills and seven digs.
In girls soccer, West Muskingum beat Philo, 1-0, thanks to a lone goal from Ashley Guthridge in the 36th minute. Tornado keeper Chelcey Tusing turned in the shutout.
The Ridgewood volleyball team (26-1) has defied the odds all season, and now they are just two wins away from their ultimate goal. Despite their youth (one senior and three juniors), the Lady Generals rolled through the regular season and reached their first ever state tournament after defeating Frankfort Adena last Saturday.
