 Meadowbrook volleyball downed John Glenn in four sets, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22, to capture its first district championship. The Lady Colts are set to battle West Holmes in the regional semifinal at Zanesville High School next Wednesday.

West Holmes jumped out to a hot start to sweep Philo volleyball, 25-9, 25-18, 25-19, in the division II district final at River View High School.

In boys soccer, Dover topped Coshocton, 1-0, thanks to a golden goal in overtime to also capture the district title.

In men's college soccer, Muskingum defeated Mount Union on the road, 2-1, behind goals from Antonio Meehan and Quenan Martin.

Philo defeated John Glenn, 3-1, in volleyball to advance to the district semifinal, where the Lady Electrics will meet Indian Valley.

The Philo Lady Electrics captured their first ever MVL title on Tuesday night, defeating Tri-Valley in a five-set thriller.

In girls soccer, Zanesville also made history, capturing its first ECOL title with an easy 12-0 win over Dover.

Philo volleyball took a 2-0 lead against Tri-Valley only to see that lead disappear into thin air as the Lady Dawgs rallied to force a fifth set. The Electrics showed up when it mattered most, though, taking the final set and the win. 

John Glenn also won, so both Philo and the Lady Muskies are tied for the top spot in the MVL.

Maysville handed John Glenn its first MVL loss in volleyball by winning in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, 26-24. Aubrie Clarke was perfect on her serving and added 19 assists. Kori Sidwell pitched 12 digs, 9 kills and 1 ace. Mylie Swauger registered seven kills and seven digs.

In girls soccer, West Muskingum beat Philo, 1-0, thanks to a lone goal from Ashley Guthridge in the 36th minute. Tornado keeper Chelcey Tusing turned in the shutout.

Doug Welker netted two goals and Zanesville boys soccer tied New Philadelphia at Sulsberger Stadium. Up the hill at Winland Gymnasium, the Lady Devils volleyball team fell to Claymont, 3-0.

The Ridgewood volleyball team (26-1) has defied the odds all season, and now they are just two wins away from their ultimate goal. Despite their youth (one senior and three juniors), the Lady Generals rolled through the regular season and reached their first ever state tournament after defeating Frankfort Adena last Saturday.

Ridgewood plays Gate Mills Gilmour Academy (21-5) this Friday at 2 p.m. at the Nutter Center in Dayton. First year head coach Kayla Crozier is a 2006 Ridgewood...
