Rosecrans 1 - Philo 1

Rosecrans' winning streak came to an end after a 1-1 draw against Philo.  Both the Bishops (6-0-1) and Electrics (2-0-2) are still unbeaten on the year.  Philo jumped in front early and held onto its lead until late in the second half.  After a missed chance from Logan Lazar, Johnny MacLean finally broke through for the Bishops with five minutes to play in the match.

Labor Day Showcase @ River View Soccer Complex

West Muskingum 2 - Ridgewood 0

West Muskingum was too much to handle in the first game of the Labor Day Showcase.  The Tornadoes totaled 22 shots on goal, while giving up only two to Ridgewood in a 2-0 win.

The Orange and Black fell behind early.  Not even four minutes into the match, West M's Danielle Ware crossed the ball in front of the net,...

Zanesville 1 - West Muskingum 3

(ZANESVILLE) -- A hat trick from Amman Lalusa proved too much for the Zanesville, as West M picked up the win 3-1 on Saturday.  Freshman Doug Welker provided the Blue Devils only score in the losing effort.  It's the first win of the year for the Tornadoes, and the first defeat of the season for ZHS.

The Zanesville Blue Devils have survived a long offseason, complete with tragedy, illness, and injury, and are now ready for another run at the playoffs.

Coach Chad Grandstaff and his team have been thinking about 2011 ever since their 49-19 postseason loss at Marion-Franklin last year, and for many reasons.

Rosecrans has always been the small school, and this year is no exception.  But unlike past seasons, the Bishops' size may actually be to their benefit in 2011.

After a 3-7 year, Rosecrans is primed for a run to the postseason for three main reasons:

1. The Offensive Line - A big group of guys that looks to pave the way for the likes of Hunter Lepi, Jared Dalton, and Luke Lloyd.

2. The Schedule - Games...

Many thought the Tri-Valley Scotties' playoff hopes were dead after its loss to Sheridan last year.  However, that wasn't the case.

Not only did the Dawgs make the postseason; they shocked the region, knocking off two-seed New Albany in Week 11.

Yet this came as no surprise to folks in Dresden.  Those fans have been expecting victory since the arrival of head coach Justin Buttermore, who, this season, looks to continues his team's recent...

(ZANESVILLE) -- The 2011 High School football season is almost underway, and the Zanesville Blue Devils couldn't be happier.

It's been a rocky offseason for ZHS.  The Red, White, and Blue have been hard at work replacing 21 seniors from last year's team, on top of handling a mild Impetigo outbreak during two-a-days and the death of freshman football player Grant Hickman.

The start of the 2011 school year may prove just as rocky, as on Monday, head...

Preseason High School Football

Zanesville 13, Tri-Valley 7

(DRESDEN) -- The Zanesville Blue Devils picked up a win in their final tune up before the start of the 2011 High School football season, but not in the way the Red, White, and Blue had envisioned.

Fresh off the school's fourth trip to the OHSAA playoffs, ZHS needed two fourth-down conversions on its opening drive, the latter a nine yard run from K.J. Grimmet that broke a...
