Local law enforcement usually sees an increase in car break-ins and home invasions this time of year.
Muskingum County Sheriff, Matt Lutz, says the economy could keep that number high this year too.
"You know, they get desperate. They can't find work, can't find jobs, and some people-a majority who have had criminal behavior in the past-turn to that. A lot of it is they don't want to hurt people, but they're looking for themselves and their families, " says Lutz.
