Howard Stewart of the Southeast Area Transit District addressed the Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday afternoon. The meeting focused on renewing funds for 2015.

The county commissioners have supported the bus service in the past, and that will not change for next year. Stewart requested a renewal of the $10,000 the county gave SEAT this year. That plan was agreed upon. Stewart said that SEAT is providing a service and people are utilizing it.

The Director for Southeast Area Transit met with the Muskingum County Commissioners, Thursday to update them on the progess of the bus system.

"We have since changed our logo, We are Southeast Area Transit.. you'll start to see that. We have a new website that is up and running, Seatbus.Org. We added a fixed route back into our transit system," said Transit Director, Howard Stewart.

Southeast Area Transit nears 100,000 riders for the year.

The Transit Director of SEAT said they've seen an increase in ridership and through November had 95,500 riders. Howard Stewart said that is partly to do with a fixed route added in October that travels the east end of town. Stewart believes their success depends on being efficient.

The Ohio State Auditor's Office has released an audit this week of South East Area Transit (S.E.A.T.) in Zanesville for year 2010, and indicates there were some serious problems.

According to the report, the 55 issues ranged from an employee claiming clothing re-imbursement that exceeded a set limit, to the use of public monies illegally to purchase wine at a benefit dinner. Every penny counts for the Zanesville Civic League this week...

The donations are coming in for the "Pennies at Work" fundraiser taking place to raise money for the league's after school programs. Executive Director Howard Stewart said students from the programs are rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.

The Zanesville Civic League hopes a small donation will turn into big dollars for their organization.

Next week the Zanesville Civic League will accept donations of pennies in hopes of covering half of their gym floor, in a program called, "Pennies at Work." The money raised will go towards supporting after school programs, their REACH program that helps students at Zanesville Middle School and their basketball league, among others.
