The Ohio Department of Natural Resource's Division of Wildlife says it might make some changes to the current deer season, and it's asking hunters to take part in an online survey.

The survey is short. The department says it will ask hunters to provide some information along with their opinions to see how it can better improve the hunting season.

Anything provided in the survey will remain confidential.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says more than 250 thousand deer were killed this hunting season, which is up from last year by about 10 thousand.

Coshocton County ranks number one on the list, with a little less than 10 thousand deer killed. Tuscarawas is in second place, Licking in third, Guernsey in fourth, and Harrison in fifth.

Muskingum county places sixth with about 78 hundred deer killed.

Deer gun season started off with a bang today.

Hunters from all across the United States travel to Southeastern Ohio just for deer hunting season.

Owner of the Dillon Falls Store and deer check station Kathy McCann says today got off to a slow start, but expects it to pick up.

"Bow season we were busier this year than last year and I expect gun season will be the same way," McCann said.
