The Zanesville Police Department says I-70 Westbound is closed after an accident Wednesday morning.  Police says they are investigating a two-vehicle accident on the 6th Street on-ramp to I-70 Westbound that has forced Police to shutdown the Westbound side of the interstate until the scene can be cleared.  There is no word on how long the highway will be closed.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says I-70 westbound is closed in Guernsey County due to an accident.  O-dot says it happened five mile west of State Route 800.  Crews are on the scene and expect it to be re-opened to one lane at around 10:30 a.m.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a semi dodges traffic and rolls over after a brake failure causes the driver to lose control.

Lt. Matt Boyd says witnesses report at around 1 p.m. they noticed the semi passing by without slowing down at the Airport Road exit, on further review troopers say the driver had no other choice.

Traffic was backed up on Interstate 70 near New Concord on Friday Afternoon following a roll over accident.

The State Highway Patrol says that two vehicles were heading Eastbound on I-70 around 2:30 p.m.on Friday Afternoon, when a commercial vehicle made an improper lane switch causing a red sedan to lose control.

Traffic was backed up on Interstate 70 East near the Underwood Exit in Zanesville due to a car fire.

It happened around 1:00  this afternoon.

According to the police scanner, traffic is moving again on the Interstate.

The Granville Post of the Highway Patrol says I-70 Eastbound is closed near the Gratiot Exit near the Licking-Muskingum County line due to a semi accident that caused a diesel fuel spill.  A detour is set up.  The Ohio Department of Transportation says one lane of eastbound traffic will be re-opened at 7:45 a.m. The other lane is expected to be re-opened at 9:30 a.m.

Troopers from the Zanesville Post responded to the scene of an accident around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon when a Ford Explorer carrying two people was driving westbound on I-70 near mile post 166. The SUV rolled over multiple times and ejected the two people in the vehicle.

A portion of interstate 70 is shut down in Guernsey County following an accident.

The State Highway Patrol says the right lane of interstate 70 West just off interstate 77 is closed as crews work to clean up the scene.

Troopers say at 1:51 Tuesday morning semi truck driver Peter Evan Kobylarz went off the road and struck a tree. Patrol believes the crash was due to severe fog in the area.

Kobylarz was taken to Southeastern Ohio Medical Center for evaluation.

Motorists travelling through downtown Zanesville need to be aware of a ramp closure next week.
 

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced  that on Monday and Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, the 6th Street entrance ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed.
 

Crews will be making bridge repairs , weather permitting.
 

The closure will not affect motorists on I-70 exiting onto Maple Avenue.

2:15 P.M..****UPDATED ****  I-70 Westbound At Gratiot Re-Opens to Traffic ****UPDATE****

 

It's unknown how much fuel spilled onto Interstate 70 Wednesday morning after a semi tractor trailer crash that closed the highway for almost 12 hours.  It is now re-opened.
