It's National Infant Immunization Week and local officials want to raise awareness in the community.

Thousands of children become sick every year from diseases that could have been prevented by getting recommended vaccinations.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department wants to spread the word during National Infant Immunization Week.

One in three infants are not getting enough Vitamin D, but that could change if they were outside more.

"Children are not being allowed to be in the sun as much as they used to be. People are afraid of skin cancer. So, many people have low Vitamin D levels, " says Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department's Dr. Vicki Whitacre.
