The City of Zanesville celebrated the work anniversary of one of their employees Wednesday afternoon.

Mary E. Bush has been working for the city for 55 years. That makes her second in line for the longest city government career in the state of Ohio. The current longest career is 57 years. Bush worked as the purchasing coordinator for the city. We had the chance to speak with her, and she told us how she was feeling looking back on her career.

Those who frequent Zane's Landing Park have likely noticed a slight change of scenery recently.

The old tent structure which went up in 1988 was taken down with a new structure put in its place last Thursday.  Zanesville Public Safety Director Fred Buck said years of weathering and vandalism took a hard toll on the old structure, and it was time for a replacement.

A new Mayor will soon be sworn into office in the city of Zanesville.

On January 1, 2012, Democrat Jeff Tilton will officially take over the duties as Mayor.
At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Tilton announced changes to his staff at City Hall.

The city of Zanesville has elected longtime Councilman Jeff Tilton to become mayor beating out his closest challenger Rob Sharrer by 159 votes.

Tilton says it was a lot of hard work but worth the effort. He appeared on last night's WHIZ News at 11 and thanked his supporters. He says it's very overwhelming but come January, he's ready to get down to business.

Zanesville City Councilman Jeff Tilton has been elected mayor of Zanesville.

Tilton, a Democrat, defeated Republican Rob Sharrer and Independent Randy Case.

Tilton received 2439 votes, to Sharrer's 2280 and Case's 420.

There will not be a primary election Tuesday in Muskingum County. But this week independent candidates running for Zanesville Mayor and City Council have officially filed their petitions with the Muskingum County Board of Elections.

Zanesville resident Randy Case will be running for mayor against democratic candidate and city councilman Jeff Tilton and republican candidate Rob Sharrer. Former second ward city councilman Kevin Mcpeek will be running for second ward once again.

The Muskingum County Democratic Party has officially endorsed their candidate for Zanesville mayor.

Three people were elected to the Zanesville City Council at large seats Tuesday one of those being Democrat Jeff Tilton.

Tilton has previously served two terms and is currently filling a vacated council seat. He says it's always exciting to be elected to public office.
