The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority names a new executive director at a special meeting Monday morning.

The Port hires Mike Jacoby the current executive director of the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority in Marietta. As a native of Ohio, Jacoby's worked in various port authorities throughout his career and has worked in Marietta for the last four years.

The husband and father of two says he's looking forward to starting his new job in Muskingum County, mid-April.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority holds its first meeting without an executive director.

Just two weeks ago former Executive Director Jerry Nolder turned in his resignation to become the CEO of Bloomer of Candy Company, leaving the port without a leader. Thursday board members discussed the void left by his departure as the search begins for a new executive director, as they hope to have all resumes in by mid February.

Muskingum County is losing a key official that others say has worked tirelessly to bring business and prosperity to the area.

Muskingum County Port Authority members are approving the resignation of Executive Director, Jerry Nolder.

Nolder submitted his letter of resignation at a meeting this morning, saying he has accepted a CEO position at the Bloomer Candy Company.

Nolder has been an active member of the Port Authority for about five years. One of his biggest contributions to the city of Zanesville and Muskingum County is the development of the East Pointe Business Park.

Several projects around Muskingum County meet approval and will begin to take shape.

Friday the Transportation Improvement Board voted to help fund two bridge projects. The 1929 Trinway Bridge between Dresden and Trinway will be the first replaced. The T.I.D. Board will give $200,000 to the project. More than 3,200 cars cross the bridge daily.
