The Military Families Support Group of Zanesville and Muskingum County formally introduced an ongoing project that will be displayed at the John McIntire Library.

On Monday they unveiled the Veteran's Memorial Project to the public. It took four years of research to compile the eight binder series. Each one includes local history of area veterans.

The Nelson T. Gant Foundation is showing four documentaries that highlight different stages of the Civil Rights Movement. Today movie goers watched the 2nd movie in the series Slavery by Another Name."

The foundation received a grant from the National Endowment of Humanities to bring the Created Equal four series program to Zanesville. It's a way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Visitor's say the film was both educational and an eye opener.

As Zanesville celebrates 200 years since being state capital, locals come together to learn about their community's history.

As a part of  "The Zanesville 1810 project," The Pioneer and Historical Society is holding a lecture series. It kicked off tonight with Mitch Taylor speaking on the city's two founding fathers.
