According to Auto Club AAA, getting your car inspected before hitting the road this summer is essential.

Summer is a time for travel and many people tend to hit the road before looking under their car's hood. 

AAA Ohio will provide a free inspection to make sure that when you do head out for your summer vacation, you don't take a side trip to a mechanic.

Enhanced driving laws have impacted the amount of teens involved in fatal crashes.

A recent AAA study analyzed teen driving data between 1994 and 2013. It found that the amount of people killed annually from accidents involving teens dropped from 56 to 51 percent. Even still, teens, compared to other drivers, have a higher rate of being involved in accidents.

AAA and other representatives were out at Zane State College giving free vehicle inspections Tuesday.

The event took place from 11AM to 2PM and was part of Zane States Safety Week. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety released its survey findings about driving while impaired.

The survey showed that people have a "do as I say and not as I do" mentality about alcohol. 91% of Americans feel it is not OK to drink and drive, and 92% believe driving and driving poses a threat to their safety. The AAA Auto Club is expecting 43.4 million Americans to be traveling this Thanksgiving, including 1.68 million Ohioans. AAA Spokeswoman Kimberly Schwind, says that's a decrease of 1.5 percent nationally and 1.7 percent in Ohio. Although it's a small decrease from last year's numbers, Schwind says the number of travelers has been gradually climbing since the recession. Hunting season starts Saturday and that means drivers need to pay close attention to the roadways for deer.

More than 100,000 crashes every year involve drivers who are texting.

Triple A and AT&T spoke to students at Ohio University Zanesville about the dangers of texting. The Triple A Foundation for Traffic Safety found that 61 percent of drivers 16-24 years-old admitted to texting while driving, compared to 35 percent of the general driving population.
