Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer.

Labor Day typically marks the unofficial end of summer and it also marks the end of swim season.

 While Labor Day can mean a day off from the daily grind, for those who work in emergency response, it's just another day of working to keep the community safe.

The Zanesville Fire Department is at the station today and Lieutenant Jim Prang said the crew on call isn't upset to spend the day at work.

With the holiday weekend upon us, the Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."

For the thirteenth consecutive year the Zanesville Olive Garden participated in the company's national campaign to help feed local fire and police stations on Labor Day.

Since 2001 Olive Gardens across the country have been supplying local stations with a free lunch on Labor Day. Two Olive Garden employees delivered lunch to the dispatchers at the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office this afternoon.

For some people, Labor Day is another day off work. But for the Edwards family, it's the perfect opportunity for a family reunion.

Larry Edwards and about 65 of his relatives spent the holiday at their family reunion held at Dillon State Park. Edwards says it's been a while since the entire family got together and from now on, he's hoping to make it a tradition.

For many of us, Labor Day is part of a three day weekend, but some people are still working on Monday.

Employees at the Zanesville Olive Garden are serving up lunch at the Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital.  Service Manager Emily McGath said the meal will feed about 20 hospital employees.

As Summer begins to wind down, an expected 34.4 million travelers will be making their way from point A to point B this holiday weekend.

Ohio auto club AAA has some travel tips that will keep you safe, and sane. According to AAA, the majority of travelers, 91% to be exact, will be on the roadways, up more than 10% from 2009.

Around 34 million people are expected to travel during the upcoming holiday weekend.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says it's preparing for a higher volume of traffic, especially on Interstate 70. Starting Friday night, troopers say they will be looking for crash-causing violations.
