It is a game that marks the unofficial start to the football season, or at least it use to do that. The Muskingum Valley vs. Licking County All-Star game is always one last chance for the class of 2014 to show what they have on the football field.

In Licking County several American Electric Power customers found themselves in the dark to start Monday. 

The company reported at one time 1,848 of its customers were without power. 

Also in Coshocton County State Route 715 remains closed at State Route 206 in both directions between mile marker 6 and 6.4 due to flooding.

American Electric Power reported that some customers woke up without service Tuesday morning.

AEP's outage map indicated that 399 of its customers were in the dark. At one time that number was over a thousand. Power has since been restored.

Coshocton County Sheriff's Dispatcher's said they also dealt with some power outages in the city of Coshocton. Power has since been restored in that area.

Licking County Sheriff's deputies responded to a medical emergency call at 5:47 a.m. Sunday morning on Fallsburg Road in Newark.

According to the Licking County Sheriff's Office, when deputies arrived, a man with a gun shot wound to his leg notified them that Christopher Taylor shot him and said Taylor was also holding the homeowners of 11222 Fallsburg Rd. hostage inside their home. The man was treated by medical personnel for non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday that an OVI checkpoint will be held in both Licking and Fairfield counties Friday evening. The checkpoints, funded by federal grant funds, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

An All-Star game is suppose to be the best anyone has to offer and the Licking County v. Muskingum Valley game lived up to that. The game was back and forth and went right down to the very end.

The high school football season is almost two months away, but the first game of 2013 will be played this Friday night, with county bragging rights on the line. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Pataskala Police Department will have an OVI checkpoint from 9:00-1:00 a.m. Saturday night on Broad Street in Pataskala.

The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grants and is to deter and intercept impaired drivers and help prevent alcohol related injuries and fatal crashes.
