Giving back to the community was the goal of one local fire department on Sunday.

The Licking Township Fire Department had their Biannual Open House for the public. The open house gave members of the community a chance to view the equipment and see what their tax money is used towards.

A dump truck rolled over late this afternoon, pinning the driver.

The accident occurred around 5 p-m on Pleasant Valley Road. The driver, Jerry Swingle, 80-years-old of Zanesville was traveling north on Pleasant Valley Road towards State Route 146 when the front right tire blew. the ford truck traveled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and landed in a large ditch, pinning Swingle.

A young boy is asking for help from hunters this week.

By looking at 7-year-old Eric Treadway you'd never realize anything was wrong. However, this 7-year-old has had his small bowel, liver and pancreas removed in April of 2010 and he's currently awaiting his second multivisceral transplant. Eric's mom said his medical condition can be taxing.

A day of fun almost turned tragic at The Licking Township Fire Department when paramedics had to spring into action.

The fire department invited the community to take part in their first ever Open House. The day featured free food and plenty of fun activities for the kids. High water poses a problem for a local hunter early Wednesday morning.

Just before 7:30 a call came in to the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office regarding a person in need of rescue at the Dillon Sportsman Area.

"He was on his way out hunting," said Licking Township Firefighter Dustin Shipley. "He didn't see the water and started driving in it, then his car stalled out after he got in so deep."
