Just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday scanner traffic indicated a car chase involving a vehicle leaving a drug house.
The chase went on to Linden Avenue, and according to scanner traffic, the vehicle being pursued hit another vehicle on Lee Street. Officials indicated the suspect was going 65 miles per hour on State Route 146 and ran a traffic light at Adams Lane before the vehicle wrecked and flipped in front of the Muskingum Recreation Center.
An accident Tuesday night resulted in the driver of a scooter being sent to the hospital.
According to Zanesville Police, the accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Adair Avenue. Police said the driver of a white Chevy pickup truck made an illegal left hand turn and struck the scooter. The truck then fled the scene. The sheriff's office was able to track down the vehicle a short while after on Dale Road.
The City of Zanesville said Linden Avenue will remain closed on the southbound lane and open on the northbound lane from Lee Street to West Main Street until Friday, June 27, while repair work is done to a wall in the area.
The Department of Public Service announced the underpass lane will be closed to all traffic while work is completed. A wall near the railroad underpass on Linden Avenue suffered damage, after a vehicle crashed into it.
Crews responded to a fire around 6:30 Thursday evening.
The blaze started at a structure behind the Zane Food Mart off of Linden Avenue. The Zanesville Fire Department responded to the scene. The Assistant Chief says he has an idea of what might have caused the fire.
"Right after that thunderstorm came through we were on a couple of other calls when we got a call that lightening struck and a building was on fire at this address, " said Assistant Chief Dave Huey.
Wet roads may have been the cause of an injury accident Thursday evening.
According to Patrolman Kyle Brookover, a black car was rear-ended by a blue Dodge pickup truck while waiting at the light on Adair avenue and Linden road in Zanesville-- both cars were eastbound.
Brookover says the rainy weather may have been a factor in the accident, but at this time they aren't completely sure. The driver of the black vehicle was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries...
The Zanesville Military Support Ministry uses money raised to send care packages and other necessities to troops overseas. Director Melodie Pittman said their current location is in need of too many structural repairs and will eventually be torn down. Pittman has been at the Balls Lane location, near Wal-Mart for the past 3 years and said the ideas of moving was overwhelming.
One man is injured after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Zanesville.
Zanesville Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Forshey says at around 1:30 p.m. David Thomas, 20, of Zanesville was driving north on Linden Avenue and swerved to prevent hitting a vehicle in front of him that was stopped due to traffic ahead.
Thomas struck a parked camper on the side of the road, which sustained moderate damage. He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
