The set-up for the Morgan County fair concluded Monday. That means Tueaday is the first day of the 162nd Morgan County Fair.

Fair board director Debbie Earich said that there are many things going on at this year's fair including tractor pulls on Wednesday and Friday nights. She says that many people come out to support the junior fair as well.

Muskingum County Assistant Prosecutor, Erin Welch says 12 sheep were killed and the county is taking action.

Muskingum County Deputy Warden, Tye Boyd, told county commissioners that in March of last year pet owner, Kathy Potts' two dogs got loose and went on a killing spree. With last fall's rainy weather, OSU Extension Educator, Mark Mechling, says many farmer's weren't able to complete their harvest. But with the cold weather we're experiencing, it's allowed farmer's to finish harvesting.

"We see a little bit of corn left and actually the cold weather has solidified that soil and allowed some of our farmer's to actually get some harvesting done in the past week or so," said Mechling. "So that's been a positive also."

Hundreds of kids participated in the Junior Fair Shows early Tuesday morning. This is Carlie McCabe's 10th year showing both sheep and cattle at the fair. The sheep and steer were judged on their overall look, how smooth their bodies are and if the front end lines up with the back end of the animal.

Ohio agriculture contributes around $93 billion dollars to the state's economy and provides nearly one million jobs. Now Ohio's Issue 2 on the November ballot has many in the farming community grasping for more information.

Tempers flared during a question and answer session as Ohio farmers voiced their opinions on Ohio Issue 2 and hoped to gain answers. Around 30 people gathered Sunday at the Muskingum Livestock Auction Barn for an informational meeting on the issue.
