NEWARK, Ohio – An iconic Ohio building closed its doors at the end of the business day Thursday afternoon for the final time.

Since it opened in 1997 Longaberger Company's basket building in Newark has been a major employer and roadside attraction for thousands. However, the company was bought by the Texas business JRJR Network a few years back and the decision was made to move all employees to their location 15 miles down the road in Frazeysburg.

Some big news from Longaberger as the iconic "Big Basket Building" in Newark will soon sit empty.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Longaberger Company is moving its remaining staff at the Newark headquarters to office space at the manufacturing plant in Frazeysburg.

C.E.O. John Rochon Jr. says the move will take place over the next couple of weeks to bring employees together in a centralized location so that they will no longer have to shuttle back and forth...

The Longaberger Company announced Tuesday the return of its annual convention to the Village of Dresden. 

The company stated, in a press release, "The Bee" will bring more than 1,000 people to the Longaberger Homestead and into the village of Dresden for three days at the end of July. Each summer, Longaberger Home Consultants come from around the nation for the annual event.

The face of the Longaberger Company continues to change.

WHIZ  News has learned that Tami Longaberger has resigned as chief executive officer and director of the company.

According to a press release, John Rochon Jr., the son of the CVSL chairman will take over as Longaberger president and CEO.

Ms Longaberger became president of the company in 1994.

The company now has just over 200 employees and just 68 at its Newark headquarters.

The call originally came in as smoke showing from a building at 95 Chestnut Street in the Village of Dresden at around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. When crews arrived shortly after, flames were shooting out through the roof and windows of the building.
