A Pataskala man accused of stealing nearly $2 million  from the Longaberger Company and its CEO has been sentenced.

53-year-old Douglas Thompson appeared in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Monday where he received a 6 year prison sentence on one count of aggravated theft.

A Texas company plans to acquire a controlling stake in the Longaberger Basket Company.  Longaberger and Dallas based Computer Vision Systems Laboratories Corporation or CVSL, have signed a letter of intent for CVLS to acquire a controlling voting interest in Longaberger.  The company has seen sales and employment dip significantly over the past 10 years.  Terms of the deal announced by the companies on Friday were not disclosed.  It would be subject to lender,...

An Indianapolis real estate company has big plans for a Newark hotel that once belonged to the Longaberger Company.

Columbus Business First is reporting that The Place Off The Square was sold by Longaberger, and it will undergo a 4.5 million dollar renovation. Newark Hospitality, an affiliate of Paul Kite Company will start work on the 118 rooms in about a month. The hotel sold for about 1.4 million dollars, and will re-open in late June as Newark Metropolitan Hotel.

An area company opens a brand new 5,000 foot store in Columbus.

The Longaberger Company opened the Longaberger Factory Store at the Polaris Towne Center across from Polaris Fashion Place, on September 1.

The store features Longaberger's handcrafted baskets, pottery and wrought iron along dinnerware and candles.

This is the third factory store for the company which also has locations in Frazeysburg and Boyd's Bear Country in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The Longaberger Company announces it's joining forces with another company and will lay-off more than 100 employees.

Beginning January 11, Exel out of Westerville will manage, oversee and direct all operations associated with packaging of customer orders at Longaberger's Customer Fulfillment Center in Frazeysburg.
