The Lorena Sternwheeler announces it will be opening for public cruises this Saturday.
Vice President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Ashby, said they are excited to introduce the new events held on the Lorena this summer.

Those aboard the Lorena Sternwheeler Aug. 15 traveled through time.
They took a trip down the Muskingum River and came across a battle between the north and south during the Civil War.
Rick Hahn of the 76th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Company A waited for the boat to cross Riverside Park and then began to engage with artillery. Hahn said that while this 25 year long hobby is exciting it's about learning and teaching in a very personal way.

The Lorena could spend her summer season on shore.
The sternwheeler was expected back in the Muskingum River May 1 after it was removed last week for a coast guard inspection.
Muskingum County Commissioner Jim Porter said that to run this summer the vessel must have serious work done. The Coast Guard found several areas that need rewelded and a lot of the hull on the sides has to be replaced and that could come at a major expense.
