For the second time in three weeks a driver made way onto the wrong side of Interstate 70 in Zanesville.

Around 7:45 Wednesday morning the Zanesville Police Department received numerous calls reporting that an elderly man was heading east in the westbound lanes of I-70.

Zanesville Police are investigating a stabbing incident Wednesday.

It happened at the Cashland on Maple Avenue just after 2PM. LT Bill Shaw says the victim, who is from Perry County, told police he recently reported that he had some tools stolen. Today he encountered two men in Cashland trying to pawn his stolen tools and a confrontation occurred. Shaw says one of the men pulled a knife and cut the victim on the hand. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of the minor...

Zanesville City Officials are alerting motorists of work being done on Maple Avenue next week.

On Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the southbound curb lane of Maple Avenue will be closed for waterline work from Bell Street to Harding Road.

The work will be done weather permitting.

Zanesville City officials announce the southbound lane of Maple Avenue from Adair Avenue to the I-70 entrance ramp will be closed all day Thursday.

Crews will be doing milling and paving work, weather permitting.

Detour signs will be posted.

Motorists are asked to use an alternate route.

Starting Monday, construction at the Dresden Point on Maple Avenue will likely cause you more headaches. A portion of Maple Ave. is already down to one lane and Zanesville Police Captain Tony Coury said drivers should prepare for even more daily delays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the Bethesda Hospital and the Dresden Point construction sites. The Ohio Department of Transportation today released preliminary results from a safety study about Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

O-DOT says the three year study shows that the concrete medians installed in 2009 between Military Road and Country Club Drive have lead to a 47% decrease in crashes.

A pro-life group held a rally in Zanesville to raise awareness about abortion.

The Muskingum Valley Right to Life organization sponsored a prayer circle and demonstration along Maple Avenue.

Those in attendance at the annual event stood on the sidewalk and waved signs as people drove by.

"We believe that every life is important born and unborn and we're just praying that someday it will be ended," said Helen Fedorke.

City of Zanesville Water crews will spend most of their Labor day working to repair a water main break on a busy roadway.

Crews have shut down both southbound lanes of Maple Avenue from Bell to Princeton. An 8 inch water main broke around the McDonald's/Harding Road area early Monday morning.

Officials said that northbound traffic is running smooth. They also said it is possible that they may move a lane of southbound traffic into one of the northbound lanes.

A fire broke out Monday evening at the Wal-Mart on Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

Wal-Mart Spokeswoman Dianna Gee said the fire was the result of a teenage prank.

According to Gee, a quick responding customer saw the fire and immediately put it out using a fire extinguisher.

Gee said the fire posed no threat to Wal-Mart customers and there was no need to evacuate the store.

The Zanesville Fire Department responded to the call just before 8 p.m. Monday.

The slow economy isn't keeping businesses from setting up shop in the "Y-Bridge" city.

Construction projects on Maple Avenue are keeping crews busy this summer.

Zanesville City Zoning Administrator Pat Denbow said he's noticed a big increase in zoning applications over the last year.
