The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking for input on Phase 2 of the State Route 60 Safety Project.

It will be holding a meeting this Wednesday at Secrest Auditorium from four to six p.m. for all to attend.

ODOT and Zanesville city workers will be focusing on ideas for Dresden Road, the intersection of Brown Road and Maple Avenue, and three designs for the Bethesda Drive, Balls Lane, and Maple Avenue intersections.

You may have noticed a few safety additions to Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

After the construction updates on the main road last summer, the city and Ohio Department of Transportation worked together to improve the project in both access and safety.

Local drivers are aware of the headaches along Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

So, the Ohio Department of Transportation is teaming up with city officials to make the road less hectic and safer.

"It's one of the worst roads as far as traffic accidents in the state of Ohio. So, something has to be done, " says ODOT Deputy Director Karl Newman.

An accident in Zanesville caused traffic delays on maple avenue Friday afternoon.

Zanesville Police say they are still investigating what happened between the two cars in the crash on Maple Avenue near Balls Lane around 11:40 a.m. Both the male drivers of the gold Ford Focus and the green Ford Explorer were taken by Community Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital. No other details are being released.

It was slow going on Maple Avenue this evening after a two-vechicle accident.

It happened at about 5:40 p.m. on Maple Avenue near Tansky Honda.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, Stacey Ryan of New Concord failed to yield as she was turning left on to Maple Avenue, when Michael Patterson struck her vehicle.

No one was injured in the crash, but Ryan was cited for failure to yield.

The jaws of life had to be used in an accident this afternoon on Maple Avenue.

It happened right in front of Burger King. Two people were cut with the jaws of life out of the gold Kia Rio. One person was taken to the hospital from the white Ford Explorer. The northbound lanes of Maple Avenue were closed for about 15 minutes while emergency crews handled the accident. Two children are sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a two car accident.

It happened around 7:15 p.m on Maple Avenue in front of Whit's Frozen Custard.

Authorities say a Volkswagen Beetle was making a left turn onto Maple Avenue from the parking lot and struck a Toyota Tarus that was traveling in the turning lane.

An injury on Maple Avenue sends one to the hospital this evening.

It happened about 7:30 this evening.

According to Lt. Tony Coury of the Zanesville Police Department, a blue Chevy Lumina was traveling southbound on Maple Avenue in the turning lane. He says another car, a silver Mitzubishi had just turned off a side street and was traveling north on Maple, attempting to get into the turning lane.

The concrete medians have been installed on Maple Avenue to prevent drivers from making left-hand turns, but what about first responders going on emergency calls?

Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Lacy says he does not think the medians will cause a problem to the department, because in their current design emergency vehicles can drive over the medians.

A two vehicle accident sends two people to the hospital.

It happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Brandywine Blvd. and Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

The Zanesville Police Department says an elderly woman drove her car through a red light, causing her to strike and elderly man in a white van.

Both were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Their injuries are not known at this time.

The accident is still under investigation.
