If the thought of planting a new tree in your yard is a little intimidating, the OSU Extension Master Gardeners are here to help.

Coming up on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 A.M. to Noon, in the corner of the parking lot at the Zanesville Art Museum, the OSU Extension Master Gardeners will be demonstrating how to properly plant trees.

The Master Gardeners and the Muskingum Valley Garden Society volunteers took over watering the potted plants you might have seen around downtown Zanesville after the city wasn't able to provide seasonal workers for the job.

"It was our intention here to make the downtown community look nicer," said Darlene Turner of the Muskingum Valley Garden Society. "And the mission of the garden society is to enhance the public and also to contribute to the downtown exposure here....

Organizations are working together to beautify downtown Zanesville this weekend...

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society and Master Gardeners spent the day planting flowers in 48 planters throughout the downtown area.

Flower arrangements of all types were acknowledged as art on Wednesday.

The 5th annual 'Earth to Art' flower show took place in Downtown Zanesville as part of the cities 'Taste of Zanesville' event. The show was hosted by Muskingum County Master Gardeners and featured eight categories including live and silk flower displays, paintings and still photography. Each category was awarded a winner. Co-Chairman, Kathy Mohler said the biggest part of the event is the planning.
