Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said there is no doubt that some drugs around the county have come from Mexico. 

The Sheriff's Office doesn't have a direct link between the county's drug trade and the notorious kingpin Joaquín Archivaldo "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, who escaped from a Mexican prison last weekend.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office would like to remind the community that setting off fireworks without the proper permit and training is illegal.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said that although they can't monitor the entire 680 square miles, law enforcement will react to complaints.

Using fireworks illegally is considered a misdemeanor crime and can result in a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Lutz said it all comes down to staying safe this holiday.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office has an update for us on an ongoing home invasion investigation.

The crime occurred on December 13, 2014 on Adamsville Road. Sheriff of Muskingum County, Matt Lutz said Detective Randy Wilson developed a suspect and has been attempting to locate him for questioning.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz released a few more details in connection with the discovery of two bodies in a home this week.

They were found Tuesday morning by a neighbor at 5180 west road. Wednesday, Sheriff Lutz released the name of the woman found. She is 77-year-old Carolyn Eileen Porter. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz has identified the victim of a homicide which happened around 10:50PM last night at 6677 McCaslin road in Nashport.
