Former Zanesville Mayor "Butch" Zwelling isn't letting his decision to not run for re-election slow him down.

As of Thursday Zwelling is a part of the Micheli, Baldwin, Northrup Law Firm.

Zwelling practiced law for 22 years before beginning his career in politics. In that time he served as an attorney, as well as a Municipal and Common Pleas Court Judge.

In one of his last moves as Mayor of Zanesville, Howard Zwelling vetoed an ordinance passed on Tuesday, which would have given pay raises to 4 of Zanesville's elected officials, including Mayor-Elect, Jeff Tilton.

WHIZ sat down with Zwelling to discuss his decision.

Mayor Zwelling said the reasons for the veto were not complicated at all.

Wednesday we spoke to Mayor Zwelling about his time in the political spotlight, but as his time as leader of the City of Zanesville winds down what does his future hold in store?

The Mayor's Office at City Hall is home to Howard Zwelling until the end of December and though his time as Mayor is nearing its end, pictures and other personal items won't be packed up until the last week.

The pictures are markers and milestones of his last six and a half years in office. There are meetings with President Barack Obama, handshakes with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and former Governor Ted Strickland. But, Mayor Zwelling wouldn't have met any of these people...

Zanesville Mayor Butch Zwelling's term ends after 7 years in December, but he still has some major projects he would like to see completed.

Zwelling spoke at the noon Rotary Club on a number of goals he would like to see achieved before his term is complete at the end of the year. With collaboration from Home Depot and the Three Sixty Bike Shop Zwelling intends to present City Council once more with the idea of revamping the cities skate park on the north-end of town.

The Fraternal Order of Police and Zanesville Mayor Howard Zwelling ask support from voters in repealing Senate Bill 5.

Three Zanesville City Council Members are calling for drastic changes to be made in the city's government...including the firing of Fire Chief Dave Lacy.

The Budget Committee spent three hours Wednesday evening dissecting the city of Zanesville's proposed budget for 2011.

Created by Budget and Finance Director Dale Raines, the committee members reviewed line by line the proposal to figure out how the city can resolve its $500,000 deficit. Department heads were under scrutiny having to explain why they have chosen to use money a certain way.

The snow and cold temperatures weren't enough to stop Zanesville residents from taking part in one holiday tradition.

The Miss Ohio Pageant has been held in Mansfield for 35 years, and after a pageant board decision Wednesday night, it will remain there.

For three years, Mayor Butch Zwelling has worked to acquire local sponsors and funding to bring the pageant to Zanesville.
