The City of Zanesville says a well travelled area road will be restricted to one lane Thursday. Public Service Director Jay Bennett says starting at 7:00 am Maysville Avenue will be down to one lane of traffic from Smithfield Avenue to Echo Avenue for sewer repair. Drivers should use caution and use alternative routes.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A two-car crash on Maysville Pike briefly closed eastbound traffic and sent two to the hospital on Wednesday.

At approximately 2 p.m. a driver of a maroon Ford was heading westbound on Maysville Pike near the Pinkerton Road intersection and attempted to make a left-hand turn. The drive of the Ford struck with a blue Dodge going eastbound through the green light.

More than 800 American Electric Power customers are without service in the South Zanesville area following a semi truck accident Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on the Maysville Pike.

A local family owned business is expanding to call South Zanesville home.

Maxwell's Drive-thru and Pizzeria is setting up shop on Maysville Pike and while the restaurant is expected to open in the coming weeks, the drive-thru already operating seven days a week. It's open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Sears Holding Company announced a local Kmart store will close its doors to the public in April.

The Maysville Pike Kmart will begin liquidation sales start January 24, but officials say the store will remain open until mid-April.

The store has 47 employees, which will be eligible to receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.

A well traveled stretch of road in Muskingum County will be closing for a brief time this week.

On Friday, August 28 at 8:00 p.m., a section of the Maysville Pike will be closed to traffic for repairs to the railroad bridge. The road will open again on Monday, August 31 at 8:00 a.m.. The Century National Bank on Maysville Pike was robbed Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:30 PM, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office and Zanesville Police Department responded to the branch near Clay Street where a man with a weapon robbed the bank. The westbound lanes of Maysville Pike were closed for a short period of time Wednesday evening due to an accident.

The call for the crash came in shortly after 5:30 p.m.  According to Trooper T.E. Davis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Jeep going west on Maysville Pike ran off the side of the road and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to overturn just north of Tat's Restaurant.

Recovery efforts for a vehicle that swerved off the road and into an icy pond off of Maysville Pike have come to a close.
