Sears Holding Company announced a local Kmart store will close its doors to the public in April.

The Maysville Pike Kmart will begin liquidation sales start January 24, but officials say the store will remain open until mid-April.

The store has 47 employees, which will be eligible to receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.

A well traveled stretch of road in Muskingum County will be closing for a brief time this week.

On Friday, August 28 at 8:00 p.m., a section of the Maysville Pike will be closed to traffic for repairs to the railroad bridge. The road will open again on Monday, August 31 at 8:00 a.m.. The Century National Bank on Maysville Pike was robbed Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:30 PM, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office and Zanesville Police Department responded to the branch near Clay Street where a man with a weapon robbed the bank. The westbound lanes of Maysville Pike were closed for a short period of time Wednesday evening due to an accident.

The call for the crash came in shortly after 5:30 p.m.  According to Trooper T.E. Davis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Jeep going west on Maysville Pike ran off the side of the road and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to overturn just north of Tat's Restaurant.

Recovery efforts for a vehicle that swerved off the road and into an icy pond off of Maysville Pike have come to a close.

Recovery efforts ended Thursday night near Maysville Pike where a vehicle drove into a pond.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says it happened around 3:30 Thursday afternoon just across the street from the Maysville Regional Water District building.  The State Highway Patrol's Zanesville Post Sgt. A motorcycle accident on Maysville Pike sent a rider to the hospital Monday afternoon.

The accident occured shortly before 1 p.m. when the cyclist, who isn't being identified at this time, slipped on gravel and lost control while traveling through a traffic light.
