The Muskingum County Convention Facilities Board of Directors voted 6-0 with two members absent and two abstaining from voting, to terminate Executive Director, Vicki Maple. The board also voted to install Stacy Clapper as Chairwoman of the Board. The Muskingum County Convention Facilities Authority Board votes to terminate and abandon a project that would have built a cultural event center in Zanesville.

At Wednesday's Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority meeting the board agreed to a letter of intent to turn over four pieces of property to the Muskingum County Convention Facilities Authority.

This spring or summer groundbreaking for Zanesville's new convention and expo center could take place in downtown Zanesville, near the site of the current Welcome Center.

Zanesville City Council is taking steps to bring a conferencing campus to the city.

Monday, they passed an ordinance allowing the city to be named as a grant applicant for Shinnick Street improvement projects. The projects include an addition to the Welcome Center which is estimated to bring in 4,000,000 dollars annually to the local economy. One of the biggest incentives for this project is that it won't cost the city a dime.
