Tuesday WHIZ reported that the superintendent of the Mid-East Career and Technology Center was leaving for another position.

William Bussey will take on State Director of Career-Technical Education at the Ohio Department of Education.

Tonight Bussey talked to us about his accomplishments the past 14 years, such as the big construction and renovation projects which will be completed this Fall, as well as the improved instruction in the classroom.

Students at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers got the chance to experience a real life crash scenario right before their big prom.

High schoolers in the Students Against Destructive Decisions or SADD program held their first mock crash event to bring awareness to the dangers of drinking while driving. The students acted out a few different scenes.

The Fieldhouse Foundation in partnership with Lowe's Home Improvement and the Mid East Career and Technology Center are providing a new activity for disabled children in our area.

For more than a year the three organizations worked together to create a nine hole golf course on the second floor of The Fieldhouse. Lowe's along with other sponsors donated the materials while Mid East students provided the labor.

Saturday was a day of learning for expectant and new moms.

The FCCLA chapter at Mid-East hosted a community baby shower Saturday morning. Around 40 women heard presentations on infant massage, post partum depression and introducing foods to babies. The guest speaker, Jamie Miller from Guernsey County Children's Services also held a presentation on shaken baby syndrome. The baby shower was free for the moms and guests.

The pipeliners are gone from Zanesville, but they are leaving something behind to help local students.

The Rockies Express Pipeline is donating a $4,000 piece of pipe to the Mid East Career and Technology Center. Officials with the pipeline say they wanted the surplus material to be used by student welders to practice on.

Around 50 senior citizens were treated to a very special day by students at the Mid East Career Center.

Cosmetology students gave manicures while the restaurant operations students prepared a delicious lunch. Teachers say it is a great way for students to learn and practice their craft.

Health professionals filled Mid East Career Center for their annual Northside-Mid East Health Fair.
 

More than 200 people are expected to attend and receive health screenings and information completely free of charge.
