From miniaturized automobile and aircraft engines to scale replicas of guns and demonstrations can be found Saturday at the Mid-East Ohio Model Engineering Expo.

All the models at the event are fully operational and took hours of dedication and a steady hand from their crafters. Paul Debolt, president of Debolt Machine Inc. said that creating these allows a deeper understanding of the engineering behind it.

Engines will fire up at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds Saturday.

The Mid-East Ohio Model Engineering Expo is back in Zanesville. People come from all over the country to display their hand-made model engines.

Model Engineering enthusiasts revved up their engines on the Muskingum County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The Mid-East Ohio Model Engineering Expo attracted not only miniature aircraft and car engines, but miniature motorcycles and guns as well. Director Paul Debolt has been putting on the show for the past four years and said the astonishment never ends.

"If you see a miniature jet engine run or a radio air craft engine, it's pretty fascinating," emphasized Debolt.

A lot of noise poured out of the Muskingum County Fairgrounds Saturday.

The Mid-East Ohio Engineering Expo brought together mechanics from different states and counties who are able to share their hand-made engines.

"You get a lot of tips from other people everybody does this differently," says Jim Dunmyer of Michigan.

Some folks sell the engines they build and others consider it a hobby.

For some it's a living, and for others it's a time-intensive hobby.

The third-annual Mid-East Ohio Model Engineering Expo is coming to the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Mechanics and engineers will be displaying and selling model engines, some of which take months to years to build. The best part is, they all function.
