The 12th annual Bet on Baylee event was held at the Perry County Fairgrounds Saturday.

Hundreds of community members gathered for an entire day to support those suffering with mitochondrial disease. Baylee Thomas, 15 years old now has been suffering from the disease since she was 9 months old. There was a $10 fee at the door to enter and enjoy a whole lot of fun, family and friends. Fifteen year old Baylee Thompson has suffered from mitochondrial disease since she was nine months old.

The disease affects a person's ability to produce energy, and Baylee has never walked nor has she talked. However, her mother, Jody, said things are going well for Baylee. She said Baylee's still completely dependent on others but that her seizures have nearly gone away.

Dozens of people stopped by Kidzville on Monday to celebrate a little boy named Levi. Levi passed away on August 21 of this year from Leigh's Syndrome, a form of Mitochondrial Disease, disease his aunt says affects 1 in 40,000 children.
