Big Brothers Big Sisters had a celebration this evening to honor many wonderful volunteers in the program.

The annual awards ceremony recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in their roles as big brothers or sisters in the past year. It also gives the donors an opportunity to listen to the inspiring stories.

A local organization is looking for volunteers and donations to make a difference in the lives of area children.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville has two outreach programs throughout the year, the first being a community based program where littles and bigs are matched and meet outside of school. The second, is school based program that will gear up in mid August. Elementary students are matched with a big once a week for a hour during the school day.

A new partnership between the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to help teens moving from foster care to independent living.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters largest fundraising event is still a few months away but it is not too early to prepare for the annual Bowl for Kids Sake.

This year, the mentoring program is celebrating it's 30th anniversary of the bowling event. In order to organize, the program is having two kickoff events. The first is on February 5th at Bryan Place at 5:30 PM and February 11th in Cambridge also at 5:30.

January is national mentoring month and there's a way you can become involved.

The Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization is looking for bigs to help children waiting for mentors in our area. Executive Director Mollie Crooks said locally about 100 children are waiting in four counties they serve. Bowlers are wrapping up their efforts to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is giving you the chance to win $10,000.

The local organization is selling tickets at $100 each for a chance to win $10,000. The drawing will be at their Buckeye Pep Rally fundraiser at the Eagle Sticks Golf Course November 19th.
