A local fundraiser provided monetary donations to five service organizations in our area.

This year, the 17th Annual Souper Bowl raised enough money to give away five $2,500 checks to Christ's Table, Eastside Community Ministries, The Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christ, and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors.

Seniors have an opportunity to receive fresh produce through the Ohio Senior Farmer's Market Program.

The program provides coupons to low income seniors so that they can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables free of charge. Officials with the Muskingum County Center for Seniors met Thursday with the County Comissioners to discuss proposals for the construction of a new facility.

The first step of the process is to issue bid requests to evaluate community feedback. Then decide if the project is realistic. September is National Senior Center Month and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors is celebrating in true Ohio State fashion.

A pep rally was held at the Center for Seniors at the Sunrise Center on the East Pike and featured a balloon launch, lunch and door prizes for those in attendance.

The Muskingum County Center for Seniors is partnering with local and state agencies to keep the elderly safe on the road.
