The Muskingum County Center for Seniors is working with the state to help protect senior citizens from fraud.

The Ohio Attorney Generals Office in partnership with the Ohio Consumers' Counsel and the Better Business Bureau are working together to present a resource fair for seniors and other members of the community.

Supportive Services Director Debi Smith said the aim of the resource fair is to protect the privacy of individuals in order to avoid identity theft.

More than five million Americans are believed to have Alzheimer's Disease, and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors is trying to promote awareness.

On Tuesday, the center held free screenings to detect memory problems.  Martha Purkey administered the exams, which consisted of questions and tasks to assess memory.

Veterans of Muskingum County took part in an honorary luncheon Thursday.

As part of Veterans Day the Muskingum County Center for Seniors offered a free meal and ceremony to honor more than 65 area veterans.

A simple meal to meet basic needs. Hundreds came out Sunday afternoon to enjoy the "Souper Bowl."

The benefit luncheon at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors served up soup, sandwiches and desert. All proceeds of the day will be divided between 8 area non profit organizations.

The hot weather doesn't stop these cooks from heating up the kitchen.  Employees at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors prepare about 300 meals each day for homebound individuals.

"The menu today is pork chops, scalloped potatoes, beets and then we have a fruit and milk," said Don.

Don Talbot has been involved with the Home Delivered Meal Program for five years.  He said this service is a necessity - not a convenience.
