ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Monday, the Muskingum County Commissioners heard bids for planned resurfacing of six roads in the county.

The Shelly Company was the only group to place a bid and their bid was at $689,000. Matt Russell, who is the administrative deputy with the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office, said that the county had estimated the project would cost $640,000.

The roadways that are planned to be resurfaced are as followed.

A local man who owns land west of the Village of New Concord met with the Muskingum County Commissioners on Monday to discuss his predicament.  The owner wants to use his land for commercial use to build businesses over the 50-acre location, but is running into difficulties with the railroad authority.

In order for the man to move forward with his project to start selling the land to prospective buyers, there needs to be a change to the railroad that runs through his property....

Two men are being honored by Muskingum County for their part in saving the life of a young man attempting to commit suicide.

It was almost a month ago. Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Intake Officer Jonah Carson was simply checking on the youth on a routine round. The city of Zanesville continued to work with Muskingum County and the Port Authority in their project to assess Brownfield structures in the area.

They're applying for a federal grant of $600,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which will set the project in motion. The money will allow them the funds to assess certain properties. Redevelopment Administrator for the city of Zanesville Patrick O'Malia explained what is considered a 'brownfield structure'.

The Muskingum County Community Action Agency seeks to help those in need in our community.

The agency offers a variety of programs to assist residents, but unfortunately there is little money in the budget. Muskingum County Treasurer Chris Hamill met with County Commissioners to discuss the county's investments Thursday.

South East Area Transit (SEAT) met with county commissioners Monday.
