The Gaysport bridge could see a change in traffic flow as early as Wednesday after a meeting between Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis and the County Commissioners July16.

The bridge traffic will reduce to one lane after a recent annual inspection. The change will shift traffic to the middle of the bridge, making for safer travel.

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency met with the County Commissioners June25.

They are in the beginning stages of acquiring homeland security equipment for search and rescue as well as Haz-mat purposes. The Director of of the EMA Bo Keck explained what type of equipment they are looking for.

The Fieldhouse Family Fitness Center owner, Mick Amicone, met with the Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday to talk about his proposed plan to buy property at the Sunrise Center.

Amicone said he is in the process of expanding, and hopes to purchase 27.6 acres of land, adjacent to the Fieldhouse. The land he plans to purchase would include the Muskingum County Center for Seniors. He offered multiple proposals to sell back or lease the senior center to the county commissioners.

On March 5th Muskingum County Dog Warden, Bryan Catlin, and representatives from the animal shelter met with the Muskingum County Commissioners after multiple dogs at the pound contracted Distemper.

Thursday, County Commissioner Jerry Lavy gave update on the situation. Lavy said starting Monday, March 16, the dogs housed at the pound were moved to the Muskingum County Fairground to begin a 30 day quarantine.

Paint, oil and other hazardous material can be hard to get rid of safely and legally. Southeastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Management District, City of Zanesville and the County Commissioners sponsored the collection day to help with the disposal of the things we can't just throw away.
