ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Thursday at the Muskingum County Commissioner’s Office a representative from Ohio’s EPA was on hand to discus concerns.
Holly Tucker represents 23 counties in Southeastern Ohio, including Muskingum County, for the EPA. Tucker said most people assume that the EPA is there to only restrict people and businesses. However, Tucker said that’s not really the case.
As winter comes to an end, the county is preparing for road-repair season.

The Muskingum County Commissioners received thanks for their support of an Ohio organization.
Jody Wilkins with the Jobs for Ohio's Graduate program brought letters of thanks to the commissioners for their support of the Career Development Contest in March. The commissioners presented medals and certificates of recognition to those participating in the event. Wilkins said it's an honor to have support from the local government.
The Muskingum Valley Health Center group will be expanding in Muskingum County in the next year.
Chief Executive Officer Dan Atkinson said the four locations served over 30,000 people last year and they project over 40,000 to be served in the coming years which would make it the second largest health center in the state.
The growth in Muskingum County has led to an almost 30 day wait for appointments. Atkinson said expansion is absolutely necessary this year.
Officials from the United States Department of Agriculture visited Muskingum County Thursday.
Their group met with Muskingum County Commissioners to talk about funding for water and, sewer projects and community programs.

Representatives from the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District met with the County Commissioners Monday to discuss the 2016 budget.
The district meets with the commissioners twice a year to give an update on expenses and plan what's ahead for the upcoming year. The City of Zanesville could receive a pretty significant reimbursement from state in the coming years.
Municipal Court Judge, Bill Joseph, said the court appoints attorneys to represent indigent defendants, and in return, the city pays those attorneys. Recently, Joseph said, in cooperation with the public defender's office, the court discovered they can get reimbursed up to 48 percent of that money.
