The Muskingum County Commissioners heard bids for the chip and seal project Monday morning. In the first bid of the morning, Asphalt Materials Inc. gave a two cost estimates for the 60,000 gallons of liquid asphalt needed to complete the project. The two estimates are for different grads of mulch.

A local veteran is turning to the Muskingum County Commissioners for support in his new venture to stop veteran homelessness.

Lester Abele, of Veteran's First, met with the commissioners Monday to discuss receiving administrative funding for a homeless shelter in southeastern Ohio. Road resurfacing continues across the area, and so does the bidding process for companies to get the projects.

We have an update to bring you in the story of the dogs who were quarantined after officials feared they may have distemper.

What were once 28 pooches feared to be sick with a typically fatal disease, are now heading back to the pound. We spoke to Muskingum County Dog Pound volunteer, Doug McQuaid, who told us a vet stated they were the healthiest looking pound dogs she had seen in her duration. A group looks to get improvements to the Muskingum County Dog Pound. 

Right now, dogs at the pound only have access to tiny cages, and the only form of exercise they get is being walked by volunteers.

The Muskingum County Commissioners vacated the County Treasurers position Monday afternoon.

A bid opening for the Avondale Sanitary Sewer Project was held at the Muskingum County Commissioners office Thursday.
