Muskingum County Treasurer Carol Friel updated the county commissioner's on the status of the county's finances. Friel and the commissioner's reviewed the county's investments during their monthly meeting Monday afternoon.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met with the County Treasurer on Thursday to discuss the state of county's investments.

Not much has changed in the county's budget.

During a meeting with the Muskingum County Commissioner's, County Treasurer Carol Friel said everything is stable with the county's investments.

"We have budgeted $550,000 and we're afraid we're going to have to change the budget projecting downward because the market has not, our investments have not proven to do what they had hoped they would when the budget was first put together," explained Friel.

If you plan on taking your camper for a long stay in a floodplain in the county next spring or summer, you will now have to pay a $50 dollar permit fee.

The fee has been in place since 1988, but hasn't been enforced. Muskingum County Floodplain Administrator Ray Mennega said the reason is because he has been focused on other projects and problems. In a meeting with the Muskingum County Commissioner's, county engineer Doug Davis said his office has recently replaced a number of structures and torn down bridges, and replaced them with culverts. On Thursday, the Muskingum County Commissioner's received bids from two companies to replace 28 deteriorating manholes and pipelines.
