The Muskingum County Commissioners and Falls Township are at an impasse when it comes to a sewer problem.

Last week some residents of Licking Road had sewage back up into their homes. A Falls Township Trustee also said one man's septic tank blew its lid because of pressure and 4,000 gallons of water were pumped out of it.

Muskingum County Commissioners pass a resolution to issue bonds for Genesis Healthcare.

By going through the commissioners Genesis will be able to sell tax exempt bonds to fund building of their new medical facility on the current Bethesda Campus.

Genesis CEO Matt Perry said they anticipate issuing around $300 million in bonds. They'll be paid back by Genesis not the county.

While the Muskingum County Commissioners and Engineer were able to work out funding for Grant Cliff Bridge the issue arises as to how to pay for project in the future.

The Muskingum County Engineer said a portion of his funding comes from the gas tax and license plate fees. Currently, the office maintains 241 bridges that span between 10 and 20 feet. Muskingum County can breath a sigh of relief when it comes to funding a local bridge project.

The county first believed that they would have to pay over $900,000 out of pocket to replace the Grant Cliff Bridge.

In a meeting Monday, with the Ohio Department of Transportation an agreement was reached where the county will pay up to $600,000 for the project.

A company that works closely with Muskingum County Commissioners across the state reaches a milestone.

CORSA, the County Risk Sharing Authority, is celebrating 25 years in service. Monday, they presented the Commissioners with a plaque honoring them for their commitment to the program.

A piece of Muskingum County history is in need of funds.

A portion of the Stone Academy's roof dating back to 1835 is leaking and sagging. Repairing the roof will take $16,000. Thursday, the director of the Pioneer and Historical Society spoke with county commissioners about the project and asked them to contribute $2,000. The Muskingum County Commissioners are exploring options to save money on electricity costs.

Monday the Commissioners spoke with Gretchen Blazer of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and raised questions about the benefits and risks of entering into a contract for a fixed electrical rate for the county.

Commissioner Jerry Lavy said the county has received many offers from electric suppliers and entering into an agreement could save the county $8,400 per month.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office is asking for help from the County Commissioners to replace a bridge in Zanesville.

Doug Davis and Matt Russell met with the Commissioners Monday morning regarding the Grant cliff bridge, near prophet's park.

A proposed agreement could save the county thousands of dollars a month in electrical costs for its facilities.
