The Muskingum County Commissioners approved the re-appointment of the members of the Muskingum County Floodplain Board Thursday afternoon.

Jim Hough has dealt with an overflowing dumpster near his property for several years now.

After trying, and failing, to resolve the situation with the landlord of the apartments at 175 Fox Creek Road in New concord, he met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to see what can be done.

People Outworking Events for Recovery started last November as a jail diversion program. 

Muskingum County Common Pleas Judge, Kelly Cottrill, started the program to help people over come their addiction to drugs. However, he said the program is very intense and not an easy way out. Progress continues Monday for the Leach Xpress Project which will create a 125.7 mile natural gas transmission pipeline across Southeast Ohio.

The Columbia Pipeline Group wants to start construction on the pipeline by Fall of 2016. Monday, Community Relations Manager for CPG, Zane Daniels, met with Muskingum County Commissioners. The pipeline would cross through nine miles and 15 properties in the southern part of Muskingum County.

Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center met with the County Commissioners Thursday morning.

Nearly two weeks ago, the Muskingum County Center for Seniors had to close its doors.

Now, the push continues to get a temporary building for the seniors to have the center's daily activities. One of the seniors who enjoys square dancing at the center said it's like not seeing your family for several weeks.

 The Muskingum County Commissioners have given a proclamation to the county 4H program.

In a meeting this morning, the commissioners recognized everything that 4H does to spur innovation in kids. The organization educates kids in a different way than in school. 4H Educator at the OSU extension office, Michelle Fehr, said it presents kids with an informal education.

The Muskingum County Engineer plans to contact the prosecutor's office about an apparently abandoned coal road.

A portion of Church Hill Road that runs past the property of Bennett Woerner was once used by Oxford Coal now Westmoreland Coal to haul their product. 

This portion of the road has since been left in disuse and dead ends at Woerner's farm. Woerner would like to see the road either vacated or maintained.

During a luncheon today, the Ohio State Extension Office gave a progress report to the Muskingum County Commissioners.

Extension Educator, Mark Mechling, said the meeting provides extension officials with a platform to update the commissioners on the past year's work.
