Two Muskingum County residents were presented with a scholarship at the Muskingum County Community Foundation Tuesday.

The Miss Olaf and Miss Olga Hanson Scholarship Selection Committee picked Kindra Knight and Sophie Didier as the winners of the award. We spoke to Didier, a junior at Ohio University who told us what it means to her to have received the award.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation, Artist Colony of Zanesville and the Zanesville Ohio Ceramic Arts have partnered with the International Potters Council to hold the Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics Competition.

The WHIZ Media Group celebrated the long career of one of our own Thursday.

Brian Wagner, who worked for us for 22 years will be leaving tomorrow to pursue a new career. On October 6th, Wagner will begin working as CEO of the Muskingum County Community Foundation. Over his time here, Brian worked as an Operations Manager, Radio Announcer, and Meteorologist. WHIZ Media Group General Manager Hank Littick, says he was an incredibly valuable employee.

The Zanesville Community joined the rest of the Country in remembering the 13th Anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Area first responders were honored during a luncheon Thuesday at Park Central on Adams Lane. It was hosted by AmeriCorps and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. Burgers, hot dogs, wings and other food was served to our local heroes in appreciation for their work. Ashley Larimer says events like this help us to remember our local service men and women.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation has a new CEO, WHIZ's very own Brian Wagner.

Wagner is WHIZ Media Group's operation manager, as well as radio announcer and meteorologist. He will take his new position as the foundation's CEO on October 6th. Wagner said that the Community Foundation is an organization that has been very close to his heart for a very long time.

Scholarship Central and the Muskingum County Community Foundation received a grant that will allow them to hire 5 people to become Americorps Ohio College Guides.

The job will begin August 4th and continue through the following 11 months.

Scholarship Central at the Muskingum County Community Foundation has their own "March Madness" going on this week.

Next Tuesday, April 1st is the deadline for those students wishing to apply for scholarship opportunities. The MCCF has extended their hours from 4 to 7 PM for this Wednesday and Thursday, as well as next Monday and Tuesday. No appointments necessary.

Newly acquired land will soon add to the view of downtown Zanesville.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation recently gained nearly 7 acres of land along the Licking River next to the property that was donated to the foundation by the Upton family in 2006.
