The Muskingum County Engineer's Office is getting ready to select a contractor to resurface the roads.

On Thursday the commissioners opened bids for the 2012 Asphalt Resurfacing Project.  MCEO Communications Coordinator Brian Taylor said the Shelly Company and Shelly & Sands Inc. bid on the project.

Some county roads may receive makeovers by summer time...

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office met with the County Commissioners Monday to present its annual paving projects for 2012. Two resurfacing projects were proposed for over 22 miles of roadway.

With the potential of oil and shale drilling in our area, some concerns have surfaced as to how this will affect the roadways...

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office is calling a meeting to discuss the possibility of permits for the heavy-load trucks associated with the drilling. Engineer Doug Davis said he wants to make sure everyone is on the same page.

This year's fairly mild winter could be a savings for the county.

Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis said snow removal crews have only been out four times this year, spending a total $115,000. He said this may seem like a lot, but keep in mind the material needed to fill one truck, costs nearly $26,000.

Several road resurfacing projects around Muskingum County could mean some traffic delays for motorists.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office announced Monday several projects taking place the next couple of months that will result in single lane closures.

The projects will begin Tuesday and Wednesday on Norfield Road between State Route 93 and Sonora Road and Sonora Road between Norfield Road and the railroad tracks.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office announced Licking Road will be closed starting Wednesday.

Officials say the road will be closed on weekdays only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  between Rehl Road and Dillon Falls Road while crews make repairs.

The work is expected to last until June 1.

Motorists are being advised to use alternate routes.

The road will be open to local traffic only including school buses.

The project will be performed weather permitting.

A bridge in Cannelville will close Tuesday and Wednesday.

The bridge on Goosecreek Road will be closed from 8:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. each day for repair work.

It will be opened overnight on Tuesday. The Muskingum County Engineer's Office asks you to please use alternate routes.

Two Muskingum County roads will be shut down Tuesday.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office says Canal Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for road repairs. The closing will occur between Vickers Hill Road and Clay Street.

Also closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. is Ransbottom Road. It will be closed from Baughman Run Road to Payne Road for a cross-culvert replacement.

Drivers should use alternate routes around both roadways.

Arch Hill Road will be closed Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. between Sweetheart Drive and Murphy Hill Road for a cross -culvert replacement.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office is alerting motorists of a road closing.

Old River Road will be closed between Butterbean Ridge Road and North Street(Gaysport Bridge) on Tuesday March 22.

Crews will be performing a cross culvert replacement between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Motorists should use an alternate route.
