Some people come to the fair for the rides and games, but many area residents come to enjoy the large variety of food.

The Coburn United Methodist Church is selling meals at the fair this week and they offer plenty of homemade options.

"We do home cooking. We do turkey, we do pork, smoked, and we have a big steak dinner which is very popular with the folks, " said Organizer, Matt Russell.

If you have ever watched the sport of harness racing you may think to yourself that it is an easy thing to do. I'm here to tell you that is far from the case.

At the Muskingum County Fair the drivers, trainers, and the horses all work very hard at their craft to bring excitement and fun to the fair. The Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair, which takes months to plan, opens this Sunday. Vendors were setting up their booths Friday morning and some have even been setting a week in advance.

"We set tents Tuesday. Our rides was in here Monday and they're pretty well set," said Secretary Concession Manager, Dave Guinsler. "We've got a few more to come in. Overnight Saturday night, there will be a lot of our food and game people coming in here from other fairs."

One grocery chain is using their day at the fair to help a local organization.

Wednesday, August 14 is Kroger Day at the Muskingum County Fair. Those that bring a 14.5 or 15.5 ounce can of Kroger brand corn, green beans, mixed vegetables or peas between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. will get in free.

All the canned goods collected will go to Christ's Table.

The Muskingum County Fair Board announces this year's big entertainment.

Florida Georgia Line along with special guest Colt Ford will perform Thursday, August 15.

The duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have used their talents to open for Jake Owen, Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford. They also took part in the 2012 Country Throwdown Tour.

Hundreds packed the grandstands at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds for some traditional fair entertainment.

The Truck, Tractor and Semi pull took place Saturday afternoon featuring eleven classes of trucks, semis and farm tractors vying for a full pull and a cash prize.

Of all the exhibits at the fair one is equal parts danger and art.

Kirby Stanforth has been wielding his chainsaw and turning stumps into art for the last thirteen years. He picked up wood carving pretty easily, all it took was a few hours a day to perfect his skills.

"Got off work early so I had a couple hours every evening so I just went out and worked at it and several months later I was able to carve," said Stanforth.

Showing animals is a family tradition at the Muskingum County Fair.

People paraded their sheep around the arena with the hope of winning a blue ribbon.  Wade Sauerbrey and his son Caden brought their hampshire sheep and a cross-bred ewe to the show.

Emergency medical technicians are standing by to help those in need at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

The Community Ambulance Service has a medical facility set up on the midway for those needing medical attention during the week-long fair.

Paramedic Troy Ball said many of the calls they get are for assistance and rarely result in transport to the hospital.
