With thousands of people rolling through the Muskingum County Fairgrounds to get their flu shots Thursday, it gives medical staff a chance to practice in the event of a pandemic.

180 volunteer and paid medical staff worked at the fairgrounds Thursday. All Muskingum County residents could receive free shots at any of three locations including Ohio University Zanesville and the Dresden Fire Department.

Local health officials want to extend the seasonal flu vaccine to as many Muskingum County residents as possible.

So, in addition to being able to get your vaccination at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. this year, three additional locations will be added to the list. Farm City Day has been teaching the importance of agriculture for 16 years. This year, their theme is 'vegetables rock' and they're focusing in on kids.

The public is invited to learn more about agriculture.

Like much of the economy- the horse racing business isn't exactly taking off in our area. But one local trainer's horse is winning and even being featured in a national magazine.

Horse Owner and Trainer Raymond Brandt said less and less people are racing horses.

"This area, the fairgrounds, it used to have all these stalls filled and some of the top horses in the state of Ohio," Brandt said.

Quilting is an art form that often goes unrecognized. The Pieacable Quilters Guild hosted a two day Quilt Show and Expo at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

On display were an assortment of quilts; vendors also showcased the latest in quilt patterns, fabrics, and techniques.

Every quilt tells a story and they'll be many to tell this weekend.

A quilt gathering is taking place at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds Veteran's Hall. It features hand sewn pieces as well as those machine made. Those in charge of the even say that though many think sewing is an old fashioned idea, that's not so locally.

359 campers are taking over the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

Those who are part of the Good Sam Club, which has 30,000 members in Ohio alone, are gathering to do some camping. Ohio State Director, David Spragg, says many of these folks are still young at heart.
