The Muskingum County Juvenile Court Director wants pay increases for Detention employees.

Robert Smith said the two percent raise in salary, plus two dollars an hour would simply close the pay gap between the employees in Muskingum County and the lowest paid detention staff in other areas.

The Muskingum County Juvenile Court is making some upgrades.

The truancy court program received a $6,798 grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services to update its computer system. Court constable, Brady Hittle, said the money will go toward new laptops for the program coordinator and probation department, as well as printers and desktops.

Juvenile and Probate Court Judge, Eric Martin, started the truancy program when he took office in 2014.

The Muskingum County Juvenile Court is hoping they can make some upgrades.

Earlier today director of court services Bob Smith met with county commissioners to discuss a one-time grant opportunity that requires the commissioners to be a partner for 50% of a $10,000 grant.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met Monday afternoon with Juvenile Court officials about new ways to save the county money.

Judge Joseph Gormley, presented Commissioners with proposals for federal reimbursement.
The 4-E program would allow the courts to be reimbursed for expenses relating to placing children in protective custody.

Kids in the Muskingum County Juvenile Court System spent the day picking-up litter along the side of the road.

One Muskingum County building is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
