Dollar General is granting the Muskingum County Library system nearly $120,000 to invest in three new programs for local students.

The three programs focus primarily on the literacy of local fifth graders and high school students and these initiatives include '21st Century Learners', 'Limitless Libraries', and 'Battle of the books'.

A branch of the Muskingum County Library System was closed Friday due to weather complications.

Assistant Director, Blair Tom says that the extreme shifts in temperatures caused the sidewalk in front of the South Zanesville branch to lift, making it impossible to open its front doors.

The Muskingum County Library System selected a special panel of researchers to review its electronic web site just in time for annual budgeting.

Four community members were asked to rate the library's online databases on a scale from one to five. The researchers evaluated the ease of access, value of information and availability of resources on the virtual library and gave their suggestions.
