The Muskingum County Library System is seeing an increase in those using a free online tutoring resource.

Those using Tutor.com have access to a free, 30 minute tutoring session and a live tutor to assist with homework.

Assistant Director Blair Tom said the resource has been available for a couple of years and find that students of all ages are getting help using a non-traditional method of education.

The Muskingum County Library System is looking to bring reading into the 21st century with a new initiative involving electronic readers.

Wednesday all 55 library staff members at the six Muskingum County Library locations underwent training for both the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes & Noble Nook tablets.

The Muskingum County Library System has announced a new partnership with the West Muskingum Local School District.

The 10 month agreement will provide West Muskingum High School with shared services for its library.

School may be out, but that doesn't mean the learning stops.

The Muskingum County Library System kicked off its summer reading program this week.  Assistant Director Blair Tom said more than 1,000 children are already registered.

Parents can help their kids set a goal of how many books they would like to read this summer.  Children who participate in the program will receive incentives like backpacks and coupons from area businesses.

Representatives from public libraries all over Ohio including Muskingum County visited the State House to meet with representatives as part of the state-wide Library Legislative Day.

Sometimes students are reluctant to ask for help, but an online tool is making it easier for kids to get their work done.

There's a new way to connect to the Muskingum County Library System and it's all in the palm of your hand.

You can now access the library through a phone app. All you have to do is go the App Store on your phone, search for LS2 and then download. Once it downloads it's just a matter of choosing the Muskingum County Library on the menu. Tough economic times are hurting Ohio's libraries, but budget cuts aren't the only issue they're facing.

The state's public libraries lose about 2% of their materials to thieves.  Blair Tom of the Muskingum County Library System said theft is more of a problem in larger cities like Columbus, but he has seen an increase in the number of items being stolen.
